Need some feedback

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby scaber » Thu Apr 11, 2013 2:51 pm

I'm looking for a small business type jet (4-6 passengers) which can cruise at 320-350 knots. I've looked at a few but they each have advantages and disadvantages, the main one being the price of anything that looks impressive!!

Flight 1 Cessna Citation Mustang - seems good but expensive
Eaglesoft Citation - I wondered if this was a bit old?
Extreme Prototypes 20 series Business jets
Feelthere Embraer Phenom 100
Wilco Embraer Cessna Citation
Lionheart Epic Victory - like the look of this but it's not an actual production aircraft as fas as I can see

There are probably others that would fit my needs to but haven't come across them
  • I want to be able to use instruments (one review said the Wilco one didn't allow IFR which seems a bit strange,
  • start quickly so I can participate in group flights without having to go through the full startup procedure, but perhaps still have the option for a full on cold and dark start for other times.
  • It must also run on windows 8 (I've seen a comment that the Flight 1 Mustang doesn't run on windows 8)
  • Be fast - some of the planned flights are over 300nm and we usually only have 60-90 minutes for each session
This is one of those times that a downloadable trial would be nice so I could try them all and pick the one that suits me most....

Any suggestions or personal experience would be nice to receive.

TIA
Greg

Didn't even know Flight Simulator could run under WIN 8! so can't advise on that score, but I have the Phenom which is a real kick the tyres light the fires kind of bizjet.
"Lite" I believe they call the systems - but it certainly goes IFR.

Oh yes, definitely runs under windows 8 - no major problems. The only hiccup being the 5 or 6 attempts before it registered on line, but been fine since then. biggrin.gif

Yeah, I found the comment about lack of IFR a bit hard to believe, thanks for that.

Anything you get from Flight1 you can get a refund on no questions asked, so the Mustang and anything else you buy from there effectively has a trial version.

The G1000 in the Mustang, which is the same G1000 used in the T182T. does not acknowledge vnav in any way - if I remember rightly you can't even enter crossing altitudes. The arguement the fanboys use is that the real Mustang G1000 doesn't control anything so what's the problem ? Well, the one in the real 'stang tells you what vertical speed you need to hit your next target, that's kind of useful to know if you're doing proper IFR.
The above post is in the public domain and is guaranteed by the manufacturer to contain no references to anything illegal or discussion of piracy, although this signature may contain traces of nuts.

Have had the F1 Mustang since it was released - still my favourite. Great around NZ airports and can get in and out of quite short fields. There a 3 real ones resident in NZ.

The latest version 1.08 works and is supported on Windows 8 (which is what I use)

I absolutely Love the Feelthere Phenom. Fast and easy(isn) to fly with an accurate flight model.

Well, I've narrowed it down to the Flight-1 citation mustang or the Feelthere Phenom. I've looked at pictures of the others and they seem a bit lacking somehow in the finish of the flightdeck and/or the exterior. I'm a little worried about the reports that the Flight-1 Citation has a big effect on frame rates and as I've experienced that with their ATR-500 that makes me a little wary of jumping that direction.

Thanks to all of you for your input, I'm still dithering a bit but starting to settle!

F1 Mustang Citation can be heavy on the frames - don't forget money back guarantee from Flight1 so worth trying, and just get a refund if it doesn't work out.

Hi there. I fly the Cj1 from Eaglesoft and have done so since 2005. I have been on several world trips and it is still my all time favorite payware plane ( although QW146 is challenging that position ). I am looking at getting the upgrade for FSX. The Cj1 is very user friendly..

Cheers
