Aye ..... looks good , might get later. I can just see my Nimrod low level down one of the big Loch's .

Mossy all the way flying out for anti shiping in the north sea. Or a Spitfire Mk 9 or even a 16 and perhaps a mk 14. biggrin.gif

Base was called Banff famous for there running around blowing things up .. sure must have been closed down post war.

Although there were no spitfires based in northern Scotland during the early phase of the war. Then became the saying when a pilot shot down a german in a hurricane and captured him he refused to acknowledge being shot down by a hurricane, and said NO A SPITFIRE SHOT ME DOWN. Thus the phase "Spitfire Snob came around.
