Yeah, looking at the line up of products so far (i.e FTX Global and now FTX Vector) we can see they have a significant price tag. IMHO, I think the cost is worth it given the overall improvements that these products have made to the sim.

My impressions are good so far. The new accurate coastlines are excellent and seem to have helped the "cliff" problem I previously had with my FS Global Ultimate meshes.

I haven't done much flying in NZ yet as it is already heavily stocked with addons which override Vector but Vector has improved the Cook Islands considerably. Old landclass files work fine (even FS2004 ones) although I'll have to make a few excludes here and there where autogen based on the old blocky default coastlines is now in the sea.

A real shame as there are just too many issues to ignore for the moment. It really does make you wonder what sort of degree of Beta testing was done prior to release.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Well I've tried it and it definitely makes navigating by road/river features a bit easier, though for the difference not so sure that it's worth the asking price. One thing I found after installing it was that I could no longer swap from one airport to another without the system crashing. sad.gif

Have since unistalled it. May come back when some of the issues are fixed.

Also got Opus weather engine - very pleased with that; well worth the money in my opinion. So plus 1 and minus 1 for today. Came out sort of even but feeling a bit let down.

I'm not sure about Vector. I'd usually be in because I've always found Orbx products to be high quality. Most of my flying is England, Scotland, Western Europe so I don't think there's really much point us there? I think the regions cover most if what benefits Vector offer?

Is anyone else's Auckland Hospital (FSX default model) now at the bottom of a huge crater? laugh.gif

FTX Global Base + FTX Global Vector + FS Global Ultimate Mesh.

I guess they had too make a choice of which global mesh to use and stick to it. It had to happen eventually. It is impossible to make millions of square miles of terrain work with very mesh and impossible to test. They have opened a forum for those with issues so they can fix them. It only works if people help.

Have to apologise to ORBX, not their fault at all. I forgot that when I made a fresh install of FSX that I would also need to put in the UIAutomationCore.dll fix; once done everything has been sweet again. I'm finding GVector quite ok for the limited number of places I've been - Australia, North Island, South Island, Japan, Turkey, Morocco. The only errors I've found are some roads in lakes (will be fixed in future releases) and I'm not sure that I like the extra verges on some of the roads, particularly in the coastal area of East Morocco.

Well worth $35 imo, probably I will get my $62 value out of it though (a bit cheaper because I'm an old b##st##rd)

[Edit] I'm pretty sure that b#a#r#s#t#a#r#d is an ok word in this context but it seems the forum software doesn't like it (sigh)

Don't forget MJ New Zealand is the beginning of the World, so renowned for the terrain and great elevations tongue.gif
