PC Pilot magazine (UK) has given Active Sky Next (for FSX) their Platinum Award in the latest issue (March/April 2014).

There are issues in NZ though, arising from the small number of weather stations that are used (Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington) and there is practically no weather (i.e. clear) across the Tasman, although there might be some kind of workaround soon/eventually. It seems to work better in Europe/USA where there are a lot of reporting stations. It's still vastly better than the default IMO.

Been a very typical problem or people asking .. Till NZ builds the weather setup still be three ta four locations that measure only .. yeah the fourth is a work in progress.

The following appeared yesterday on the Active Sky Next forum, which is available only to ASN registered users:

QUOTE
We have not been able to secure a data source for many of the AUS/NZ stations METAR/TAF info. License/use restrictions prohibit an affordable solution to obtain this data legally and thus we are forced to wait and/or implement alternative means to achieve better coverage here. We are working on it.

Fingers crossed that they can work something out, - I'm optimistic New_Zealand_etc.gif .

At least they're aware of it. Even with only three weather stations the results are still dramatically better than any of the default options!
