At the end of the day there is only so much that aerial bombardment can accomplish and at the same time keeping collateral damage to a minimum. It will take troops on the ground and I don't think Uncle Sam wants to go down this path again so soon. This means arming up Assad or the rebel militia to take on IS. One only has to look back at what happened after the Taliban were provided with arms? Things can go pear shaped very quickly.

"Things can go pear shaped very quickly." and i think it will CP . I think the key is (as others have said) is to somehow motivate the armed forces in Iraq ...250,000 of them ,but they dont seem to be able to get it together.

Gawd! that would be the last place I would won't to go to stabilize the area ... that would be the worst nightmare ... it was the Syrians activist the jumped on the band wagon during the 2002 frac ... they co-insider with Iraq ... maybe that is the basis of were IS come from ? .. Before anyone answers ... how come Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and other bordering countries want nothing off it ... I put dollars on it many ISIS are a mix off these radicals from all these countries even before the western radicals are in there.

I often wonder, (as I do), if that; "Bloke-up-there" had only planted "Ladies" on Planet Earth, instead of "Angry Blokes", would we all be free of wars and deadly conflict...

....or just a bit of occasional scratching and hair-pulling now and again?

Paul.... winkyy.gif .... winkyy.gif ....!

It would be more interesting to see how the aircraft feared and details off the strike and what they did.
