I took a little break, got back into drawing at the mo, little scatter brained with ideas, primary is my artwork.

This is my first post in this forum. I want to start by saying your scenery is magnificent. Well done to everyone involved. I'm sure people will get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing it.

Indeed yes Ian. Take off from Che`s New Plymouth in my trusty Tiger Moth, for a liesurely cruise to Wanganui, with a touch and go at Lawrie Roaches Stratford, brief stop at Deane Bauntons Hawera, fly over Lawrie`s NZVM Contact Energy Gas Plant then on to FS Creations Wanganui. An interesting flight all the way. We are certainly blessed to have so many fine and accurate scenery add ons to complement VLC aren`t we. notworthy.gif

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

I did not get tied up today, more we had a NZFF club meeting - Marty Greg and me so little done any NP ... but the Note Pad was out for other reasons.

Real world life has to take charge first , typical me sitting on so many .

Sorry to revive this topic after a solid 7 months of sleeping (winkyy.gif). I've been checking out this scenery in P3D V2 and it seems to work just great aside from the fence/crashing issue. The only other issue I encountered is a texture/bumpmap problem. The runway seems to be filled with what I can only describe as similar to the black and white noise you will get on older TV's when no channels are tuned tongue.gif.

I'm sure it's probably some incompatibility with P3D V2, but does anyone know which texture and/or bumpmap is used for the (asphalt) runway? Would save me a lot of trial and error, lazy guy that I am winkyy.gif.

Hi all

I have been trying to find Deane Baunton's Hawera airport scenery. Can someone point me in the right direction (link would be great) to find it.

Cheers

Hi Bernie
The Hawera scenery is in the stages of being updated I have done the latest aerial photo for it and now Dean is redoing the modeling and autogen for it
It may take some time as he is only working on it when he can get spare time.
If you want it with only some vegetation autogen but no buildings or modeling done shoot me a PM and I will give you a download link.

Not too sure which texture you are after, but I remember that I had to give all the New Plymouth textures mipmaps, otherwise I get a real 'shudder' when the airport comes into view. I suspect that this could help with the high res textures overall.

I'm not sure what the fence crashing issue is but I have this working well in P3D. I have recompiled and converted the textures to "work better" in P3D. I have still yet to give it a thorough workout but it seems Ok.
I am in the process of checking with the original developer to see if would be OK to give you and maybe other interested members of NZFF a copy.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Here's a quick screenshot that hopefully shows what I mean:

2014-12-18_14-41-57-986

I don't really have any other issues in terms of performance or textures. The fence/crashing issue is mentioned earlier in this topic. If you have crashing enabled any non-AI plane will register a crash just before touching down or when starting on the runway I believe. Related to some fence BGL.

Anyway, I really enjoy all the sceneries available for NZ here, in case I haven't said that before. So just a quick thanks to those who create them.

Thanks Doug. I will wait until it is finished.

I just saw mention of an airport that I did not have so I did a search in the usual places and drew a blank.

Sorry for the thread hijack. Back to the topic at hand.

Cheers

New Plymouth is a great scenery addition, but I don't fly it because I get a shudder when turning at the end of the runway when the airport comes into view.
My FSX is so smooth that this one shudder is enough to prevent me using New Plymouth!

It seems topprob fixed it himself, is there a utility that allows me to do the same (i.e. give the textures mipmaps)?

I use ImageTool, which is part of the FSX SDK, but if you don't have the SDK then I think you can use DXTBmp.

SORRY guys I haven't replied for a while, I'm on holiday in North America for a couple of months, which is taking up a lot of time.
I have created a fix for the "crashing" problem (if your Aircraft immediately crashes when you start at the airport). I removed the crash boxes in some of the BGLs that caused this problem.
Also a fix for the texture shimmering problem. Mip Maps have been added to smooth the textures. Thanks to Cowpatz for going through all the textures and converting them for me!

Crash Box Fix (Replace the .BGLs in the Scenery folder with the one in this download):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xjx5gomily9g3 ... 5.zip?dl=0

Texture Fix (Delete the .BMP files in the Texture folder and replace them with the .DDS textures in the download):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ocvuvdezbwus ... 5.zip?dl=0

If you have any problems or questions let me know.

Wow, thank you! In a sec I will load these fixes and then I'm off to do a run from Wellington to New Plymouth!
