WiP - ANZ L-1011 (Captain Sim)

I recently purchased the Captain Sim L-1011 and started working on an Air New Zealand livery. Fictional of course, but based off the DC-10 livery. It's nearly done, basically just adding registration and some details. But there are a couple of major PITA alignment areas where I wish CS had added a wireframe layer or some guides in the paintkit.

Anyway, here are some shots:

Don't know when I'll be able to finish it, since I'm getting a bit fed up with the trial and error for the alignment issues. And I'm leaving for work on Saturday again, so if anyone is interested I can provide the Photoshop source files to have a look at or finish it up smile.gif.

I'm sure that there are aircraft that are much more frustrating to repaint, but I have a low tolerance for that kind of stuff, haha. I just need to step away from it for a bit and come back later, which is what I did yesterday. She's about as good as it gets now:

I have to say, this is my kind off plane. Luxuries like a pretty sophisticated autopilot but also analog gauges. It's the nice step in between 707-type stuff and full glass and automation like the later 747's and modern liners.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I don't know if there are any other users of the CS L1011 around here, but I'll see if I can provide a link to the repaint a little bit later.

Alright, here you go: http://vordme.com/repaints/cs_l1011_anz.rar

It's not perfect, still some very minor alignment issues if you look around the aircraft real close. But I hope you can enjoy it smile.gif.

Is this plane worth it? Heard some horror stories about CS and their Boeings - namely none of them ever being finished.

NOTHING WRONG WITH CAPTAIN SIM , your horror stories are from people who keep saying "gimme gimme gimme" knowing its in the process of build .... these dipsticks then complain that this don't work and that is incorrect .. "none of them ever being finished" Absolute Rubbish .... the luxury off watching a model grow , one design group that caters for the one who want to step into the unknown .... if you have done any model build or design ..... horror story's go by brand , not by what the discounted customers make up.

I see they have separate versions for FSX and P3D. Might hold back as I plan to go back to P3D in the not so distant future.

Again thanks for the nice words smile.gif.

I own the 707/737/757/767/777, the C-130 and now the TriStar. Out of those, the only real let down was the B777. I think they took on a bit too much of a challenge with that one.
The 707 and 737 I mainly own because I like their looks and older style systems/instruments. I have no idea how accurate they are, but they feel quite nice. The 757 and 767 have a few quirks of their own, but I've personally never had issues completing a flight in those. It's not PMDG/Majestic level perhaps, but a satisfying experience for me.

The B777 is still quite buggy, even at V1.3. It does not follow it's own VNAV restrictions and climbs like a maniac with full load, so it's a bit weird. Needs more work and it doesn't seem to be moving quite so fast.

The TriStar has been great so far. They kind of go back to simpler stuff, but more complex stuff like Direct Lift Control seems to be implemented very well. There's probably a better review out there then my few days of casually flying it, but for me it's worth it's asking price.

Have all those bar the Tristar ... my logic was ... all these passenger aircraft , I needed something to drop people of quickly idea.gif Ah HA ! Logic dictates another Boeing - the B-52, my airline saying and company policy "We can drop you of directly at your door"

Another idea.gif I wonder if I should get into the airline business ?

Hi guys, I'm going to bump this thread quite a bit, haha.

I've been a bit busy moving to another country and switching aircraft types for a new job, but I'm getting back to installing P3D now and setting everything up again. Unfortunately I lost this repaint of the CS L-1011. Just wondering if anyone here ever downloaded and has it on a hard drive somewhere? No biggie if not, I can always rebuild it, but if someone still has the "cs_l1011_anz.rar" file on a HDD somewhere...

Hey ya Jasper, I did not see it posted but then saying that I did not have the CS Tristar , I lost a few paints myself month or so back, Flight Sim decided to a funky chicken and threw its banana's out the window.

Yeah, it's a long shot by any means, but if anyone ever downloaded the file from the link a bit higher up in this topic and still has it, let me know at some point :P.
